Drawing

Drawing is communication. When you draw, you “translate” your observations and impressions into your own personal visual language. The way we draw, how we depict what we see, is just as unique and individual as our handwriting. It’s this “handwriting,” your personal mark on the paper, that we nurture, challenge, and develop.

It all begins with the pencil, charcoal, chalk, or marker meeting the paper. The process is where ideas are born and take shape visually. A good drawing is not only the foundation for many creative pursuits but also a goal in itself.

Technique and materials

Here you’ll explore classic techniques and materials. You’ll draw many different subjects, each with its own unique character. It’s all about “seeing”—expanding your understanding of what you observe. To draw a form is also to “understand” it.

The teaching alternates between structured and freer assignments. In the structured tasks, you’ll explore and refine core drawing principles: line, surface, structure, movement, and space. In the freer assignments, you might start from your imagination and experiment with your own ideas and projects, choosing your own techniques and materials.

Drawing your Future

In Drawing, you get guidance right from your very first stroke. Throughout the process, we work with core visual challenges like composition, contrast, proportion, texture, space, and surface. At the same time, we explore the unique strengths and possibilities of different drawing materials.

You’ll never feel alone in your process — we’re constantly checking in and giving feedback as you work, so your drawings get expert guidance from the very start. This way, you’ll learn to take control of the whole drawing process and really shape the expression of your work.

Drawing gives you a solid foundation and a method you can build on independently. If you’re aiming for design or architecture school, an art academy, or a graphic media education, this course provides the essential tools and inspiration to create a strong portfolio.
