Embroidery

Embroidery at
Odder Højskole

Embroidery is back! This ancient craft has seen a revival across the design world – and for good reason. You can embroider on almost anything: fabrics of all kinds, paper, old and new photos, furniture, cushions, fences, and nets. We use the thread like a paintbrush or a writing tool. Starting with great stories, we create new works of art using this old-yet-new, experimental craft.

Thread as a Brush

Every embroidery tells a story – beautiful, intricate, whimsical. Together, we’ll find exactly what inspires you. You’ll embroider both by hand and on the sewing machine, and explore techniques like sun printtransfer printing, and much more.

Embroidery requires no prior experience. You just need a desire to immerse yourself and experiment with methods and materials – and from that, we’ll stitch together images.

Whether you’re dreaming of a future as a designer or simply want to enjoy the mindfulness and peace that embroidery brings, you’re warmly welcome in this course.

If you’re drawn to other traditional crafts, you can also choose Knitting and Stories.
