Event and Communication at
Odder Højskole

Are you the kind of person who loves bringing people together? Do you enjoy organizing events, creating cultural moments, and turning great ideas into action? Are you full of creativity but missing the tools to make your visions come alive? And are you curious about how project management, strategic communication, and entrepreneurship can open new doors? Then the Event course is for you.

At Odder Højskole, Event is all about creating real experiences — both on and off campus. Through hands-on work and principles from event management, you’ll explore what it takes to engage an audience, make people show up, and communicate your message effectively. We dive into how cultural storytelling and digital marketing can help shape both your own identity and the world around you.

From idea to funding – From Screwdriver to storytelling

We focus on developing strong ideas and turning them into reality. You’ll learn how to plan an entire project from A to Z: timelines, sharp budgets, and targeted funding applications. You’ll gain communication skills like writing press releases, understanding your audience, and going viral on social media.

But this course isn’t just theory — it’s hands-on. You’ll get your hands dirty with drills, saws, and other tools to build booths, bars, benches, or whatever your event needs.

Project leadership & business insight

You’ll act as a project leader — managing deadlines, coordinating teams, and keeping a cool head when things get hectic. Along the way, you’ll also build real knowledge of business strategy, entrepreneurship, and branding. Learn how to write business plans, conduct market analysis, and position your ideas clearly and creatively.

Leadership is also about people. You’ll discover how to bring different personalities together into one strong team — and how to keep collaboration running smoothly when things get intense.

Build a Festival – for real

In the fall, we create our very own festival — from concept development and planning to execution and evaluation. You’ll work with booking, scheduling, promotion, and all the logistics that turn an idea into an actual, memorable experience.

In the spring, we engage with existing local festivals and cultural events. Here, you get real-world experience in event production on a larger scale — collaborating with external partners, working professionally in the event industry, and creating meaningful experiences for a broader audience.

Creative Community and Innovative Thinking

Community, creativity, sustainability, and diversity are core values in our teaching. You’ll work closely with your fellow students, developing and refining projects together in an open and supportive environment. We focus on innovative thinking and how to design experiences that truly connect with people.

This course is for you if you want to create experiences that matter, deliver powerful messages, and make a difference. You’ll gain the tools to turn ideas into action, grow your leadership skills, and explore exciting new paths in event creation, communication, marketing and creative business.
