At Odder Højskole, Film Production is all about hands-on experience. To create successful films and TV, you need to understand the tools – and that’s exactly what you’ll learn here. Some of our students have filmed before, others are complete beginners. We meet you where you are and help you grow from there.
In Film Production, you’ll gain practical insight into the tools and techniques needed to bring your film projects to life – a solid foundation if you want to continue working with film later on.
We work with:

- Sound
- Lighting
- Scriptwriting
- Editing
- Storytelling
- Montage (both as a narrative technique and a theoretical concept)
You’ll spend a lot of time doing hands-on production work, but we also include lectures and film examples. And everything you learn should be usable in the real world: you’ll also get a crash course in ethics, copyright, film law, and how to collaborate with relevant authorities.
You’ll work solo, in small teams using single-camera setups, and in full-scale multi-camera TV production environments. We use professional equipment and edit in Adobe Premiere Pro.

Film Production is a production-based subject built on the principle of learning by doing. You’ll create short films, documentaries, and TV formats – with both assigned and self-directed projects.
While producing, you’ll develop the discipline, teamwork, and routines that are essential in the world of film. This is a full-on production subject – we work day and night when needed to get our film projects across the finish line. It takes creativity, invention, and research. We shoot on location and in the studio, we design sound, edit footage… and of course, we finish with a proper premiere party.
To deepen your understanding, you can combine Film Production with more theory-based courses such as Storytelling or Film History. Over the years, Film Production at Odder Højskole has helped many students prepare for careers in the film and TV industry. Students have gone on to study at institutions such as The National Film School of Denmark, Multiplatform Storytelling and Production at VIA, The Media College Denmark, Super8, Super16, and more.
