Poetry is often seen as something highbrow and difficult — but it doesn’t have to be.
Lyric poetry is language delighting in itself, and in this class, we write, read, and open up to language. And we make a conscious effort to stay far away from high school-style analysis models. Not because we won’t analyze poetry — but because poetry analysis shouldn’t be about rigid formulas. Poems should be read, performed, and experienced.
