Winter swimming at
Odder Højskole
Why do winter swimmers look so happy — and why has this practice become so popular?
Because swimming outside in the winter cold sea boosts energy, joy, and well-being. Your brain releases endorphins that reduce pain, while anti-stress hormones provide a sense of happiness and deep relaxation. It also improves blood circulation, strengthens the immune system, and increases your endurance.
We do exercises to prepare the body for the cold plunge. We focus on deep breathing and explore what happens physically and mentally when we enter and exit the cold water. We swim in a lake or the sea, with access to a sauna in beautiful natural surroundings.
It’s highly addictive!
If you’ve never tried it before, this is your chance.
Warning: Winter swimming is highly addictive — and you may end up feeling really happy!
